About MARTIN LUTHER SCHOOL

Description provided by the district or community โ€” not part of the NCES dataset.

Opened in 1969 as a Pennsylvania Department of Education licensed Approved Private School, Luther School provides an individualized educational program designed to meet the special education needs of emotionally disturbed students ages five through fourteen in grades K-8. While emotional support is a principal focus of the educational process, many students with social and emotional deficits struggle with related learning disabilities. Martin Luther School guides each student through an Individual Educational Plan, designed for his or her specific set of needs. The curriculum mirrors that of public schools. Each year a number of Luther School students are able to make sufficient behavioral and academic gains such that they transition back to public school. Students who continue to need the special education of Luther School may continue through the completion of eighth grade. In recent years Martin Luther School has experienced dramatic growth. Our school facilities accommodate up to 240 students in classrooms, a gymnasium, a library, a computer lab, an art room, a music room, tutorial areas, and several outdoor recreational areas. Martin Luther School is housed in Harrison Centre and Hess Centre.
