Limestone Walters CCSD 316

Education is a public trust affecting the students, Board, family and community. We believe is is the responsibility of District #316 to help our students grow intellectually, emotionally, physically, and socially to the maxium of their capabilities. We further believe that our students must be prepared to be productive citizens in a technologically changing world. It is our mission to impart the knowledge, skills, and attitudes for effective living in the home, school, and a democratic society. Limestone Walters School is an elementary school district located in rural Peoria. Formed in 1955, Limestone Walters is one of 8 feeder schools into Limestone High School serving 206 students and 23 staff members. Our district covers 14.70 square miles and our average classroom size is 22 students. We house K-8th graders and have one classroom per grade. Grades 6, 7, and 8 are departmentalized. In addition to our normal curriculum, we also offer music classes, computer classes, student council, speech team, and a full athletic program with experience coaches, along with many more enjoyable activities for our students. Our school has a 21st Century interactive learning center complete with 30 new computers, a projector and SMARTboard, and a color laser printer. Each classroom is equipped with an average of 3 upgraded computers for immediate student use. Our dedicated staff challenges our students to do their best and expectations are high. Our students have consistently scored well above average on both achievement tests and the state ISAT tests, and they excel when they go on to Limestone Community High School in both academic and extracurricular activities.
