Danville has experienced a slow, controlled growth when compared to the eastern part of the county; however, the community and the school are currently experiencing more rapid growth and development. Although agriculture remains a major contributor to the economy, light industries are being drawn to the area. Because of the school district's proximity to the Indianapolis metropolitan area, a large percentage of the workforce is employed by Marion county businesses, industry, and government. New business firms provide local employment.
