About Cowan Community School Corp

Description provided by the district or community — not part of the NCES dataset.

Welcome to Cowan Jr.-Sr. High School, Home of the Blackhawks. We are located, six miles south of downtown Muncie, in southern Delaware County. We are extremely proud to have recently been named a Four Star School by the Indiana Department of Education. Although we are a small suburban school, we strive to offer a challenging and varied curriculum for all students. At Cowan, we currently offer several Advanced Placement (AP) classes. We also offer a distance learning class and enjoy a solid working relationship with nearby Ball State University. We offer dual credit courses with Ivy Tech, which is only four miles away. A well rounded education, provided in a caring and concerned atmosphere, is the cornerstone of our school. At Cowan people really do care about each other. Our faculty, staff and parents are very committed to providing the best possible education to our students. Along with a strong curriculum, we offer several extra curricular opportunities. Our academic teams have faired quite well in competition, our band has had great success at the State Fair Band Contest for many years and the Visual Communications class annually puts out a great yearbook. Our volleyball team has been to the state finals for four times in the last five years and our baseball team finished runner up in the 2008 state tournament.
