Crest Unified School District is a progressive district located in the southern half of Anderson County with a small portion extending into Allen County in Eastern Kansas. The district covers approximately 177 square miles and includes the communities of Colony, Kincaid and Lone Elm. Colony has an approximate population of 425, Kincaid residents number approximately 175 and the Lone Elm community has approximately 50. Crest is an agri-business oriented district with many patrons commuting to nearby industries. There are a variety of churches and civic organizations. Many properties in Colony have free gas or enjoy .30 cent per unit gas. Kincaid hosts Kincaid Days in the fall each year and has done so for over 100 years. Colony Days is Labor Day weekend each year.
