About Carroll County

Description provided by the district or community — not part of the NCES dataset.

Welcome to Carroll County Schools, a Champion for Kids. Our mission is to provide all children with an educational foundation so that they can succeed in a global society. We believe that all students must learn to think critically, solve problems effectively, and communicate clearly in order to confidently adapt to the continually changing technology of the 21st Century. Through activities that address individual learning styles, students will gain equal access to a rigorous and viable curriculum, which will help prepare them to be ready for college, career, and citizenship by the time they graduate from high school. By 2015, at least 71% of seniors will reach adequate benchmarks on the ACT, Work Keys, COMPASS, or ASVAB assessments or obtain the necessary industry certifications to be considered “College and Career Ready.” By 2021, all graduating seniors will have earned that designation. School staff members will collaborate in professional learning communities to develop and implement the most effective instructional strategies. We will always consider these fundamental questions: 1) What do we want all students to learn? 2) How will we know if they have learned it? 3) What will we do if they have or have not learned it? 4) What will we do if they already know it? The answers to these questions will guide our instruction. As school staff members, parents, guardians, and community members, we will expect students to master the reading and mathematics content at their grade level. We will support students in their pursuit of high levels of learning by removing learning barriers, and by fostering positive, caring relationships.
