About William C. Abney Academy

Description provided by the district or community — not part of the NCES dataset.

Established in 1998, William C. Abney Academy (WCAA) is a tuition-free public school serving children in grades K-7. William C. Abney Academy originally opened as a K-6 school, offering an education alternative to the Grand Rapids Public Schools. WCAA focuses more on educational rigor, as well as educational discipline to help promote student well being. William C. Abney Academy operates under the public school academy governance structure, in which the Academy is authorized by (received its charter from) Grand Valley State University. GVSU appoints the William C. Abney Board of Directors. At Abney, all children are provided with the opportunities and resources to achieve academic success. Here, excellence in education and character is the expectation.
