The mission of Hope Academy is to provide a positive, nurturing, and collaborative educational environment where we ensure the intellectual, social, and physical development of every student.Hope Academy was founded in 1998 by Bishop Andrew Merritt, Pastor of the Straight Gate International Church in Detroit .Hope Academy is a Public Charter School serving students K-6. We are located on Grand River and I-96 (Jefferies Freeway) near Livernois.Hope Academy opened grades K-3 in September of 1998. An additional grade was added each year until we reached the 6th grade.Hope Academy celebrated 13 years of educational services to elementary students in 2010. Hope Academy is a school that is "Soaring Beyond Expectations:We have three sections of each grade level. The maximum class size is 24 students per class. Total student capacity is 504.Eastern Michigan University authorized Hope Academy to become a charter school.
