The Center for Charter Schools at Central Michigan University released a list of K-8 charter schools that are high performing and beating the odds. Academy of Southfield is one of only 52 charter schools across the state of Michigan that has achieved over 60% academic proficiency with a population made up of more than 50% free or reduced lunch students. Academy of Southfield is approaching the "School of Excellence" designation which requires at least a 70% 3 year average proficiency rate for reading and math. Academy of Southfield's extraordinary achievements reinforce the belief that every child can learn if given the right support, environment and tools.
