About City Academy

Description provided by the district or community — not part of the NCES dataset.

City Academy High School is located on the East Side of St. Paul in the Wilder Recreation Center. City Academy was created in 1992, in cooperation with the City of St. Paul and Northern States Power Company under the sponsorship of St. Paul District #625 and the Minnesota Department of Education. City Academy is Minnesota Independent School District #4000 and a Minnesota Non-profit Corporation. As of September, 2000, City Academy is under the sponsorship of St. Catherine University, in St. Paul, Minnesota. City Academy was established to meet the growing need for academic programming aimed at young adults seeking a small school with small classes, which would enable them to have productive and meaningful roles within the community. City Academy has been a YOUTHBUILD program since 1993. The school was founded by teachers and designed in cooperation with the students. The school has been accredited with North Central Accreditation Association since 1993. All educational and vocational opportunities at City Academy are offered regardless of race, color, national origin, sex or disability. All program offerings are tailored to individual student needs, based on academic assessment and performance. All information is available in alternative formats. The majority of the classes are held in the City owned Wilder Recreation Center. Classes are also held at satellite locations to strengthen communication and connections between the students, the school and the community. If you are going to take a city bus to get here, you can check the Metropolitan Council page, where they provide info on all city buses including schedules and maps. A very common way of arriving at City Academy is via Route 64.
