Norman County West has a highly qualified, certified staff serving 264 K-12 students. In collaboration with a veteran support staff they create a climate of “sharing” and “caring”. There is, indeed a feeling of “family” at Norman County West. Norman County West Elementary is located in Hendrum, MN. Hendrum is located on Highway 75 -- 30 miles north of Moorhead, MN. Norman County West High School is located in Halstad, MN. Halstad is located at the intersection of Highway 200 and Highway 75 -- 35 miles north of Moorhead, MN. Both school buildings are points of pride in the communities and are impeccably maintained. The Norman County West Schools have been in existence since the 1982-83 school year, when Halstad ISD #524 and Hendrum ISD #525 paired. The two districts consolidated in 1991. The mission statement of the Norman County West School District is “To build caring and contributing members of a community.” The school is a community of learners where reading, writing, math, social studies, science, critical thinking, and processing skills are taught and applied throughout the curriculum.
