The Belton School district is Accredited with Distinction by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. Programs and services offered are broad-based and include child care, Parents as Teachers, early childhood education (regular and special) inc-district and out-district special education, gifted and talented education, vocational education, guidance and career counseling, and more. A "day treatment" program is operated in the district in conjunction with Ozanam. The Belton School District has recently been recognized at the national and state levels for several exemplary programs. The mission of the Belton School District is to encourage, challenge, and engage all students in the development of knowledge, skills, and attitudes that will prepare them to become lifelong learners and contributing members of society. The Belton School District is located in Cass County, Missouri, just 20 miles south of downtown Kansas City and is a member of the Greater Kansas City Cooperating School Districts and Suburban Mid-6 Athletic Conference. The 12 campuses of the Belton School District, which include: Grace Early Childhood Care & Education Center (birth to pre-k), Cambridge, Gladden, Hillcrest, Scott, and Kentucky Trail elementary schools (K-4), Mill Creek Upper Elementary (5-6), Yeokum Middle School (7-8), Belton Freshman Center, Belton High School (10-12) , Belton Academy, and Belton-Ozanam Southland Cooperative (K-12) serve approximately 4,800 students. A broad range of co-curricular activities including athletics, clubs, vocal and instrumental music, speech, debate and much more is offered in the district.
