SUFFERN CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT

For the 2011-12 academic year, a total of 4,619 children are enrolled in the Ramapo Central School District’s 5 elementary schools, 1 middle schools and 1 high school. The district serves students residing in the Rockland County communities of Airmont, Hillburn, Montebello, Sloatsburg, Suffern, Tallman, and part of Monsey.  Academic Excellence:Six Suffern High School students received National Merit Scholarship Letters of Commendation in September 2011. In 2011-12, 34 Suffern High School students were selected to perform in the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) Area All-State Music Festival. 131 Suffern High School students earned Advanced Placement (AP) Scholar Awards for exceptional achievement on examinations taken during their high school careers, as of June 2011. Of those awarded, 10 were named National AP Scholars—the highest honor—for earning a score of 4 or higher on eight or more exams.A 6th grade Suffern Middle School student was one of 2010-11 winners of the National STEM Video Challenge Contest, a multi-year White House initiative
