Mission-At Carter Community School, we seek to develop, nourish, and nurture a learning environment where important, productive, and life changing activities occur daily.A new Board of Directors, headed by Brian L. Crawford, Esq., was formed in 2004 to oversee the change in governance, and to select a new Executive Director / Principal to manage the school. Under the new leadership, the schools mission and vision have been redesigned and restated to reflect more accurately the direction of the school. With these changes in direction, the school has realized increases in academic performance, increased student and staff diversity, increased student enrollment, a higher percentage of certified and highly qualified teachers, improved classroom resources, and more enthusiastic community support. As part of this new direction, Carter Community School now uses the internet as part of its dissemination of information and for recruiting both staff and students.Enrollment at Carter Community School is determined on a first come, first served, space available basis. Charter schools are public schools. Therefore, enrollment at Carter Community School is tuition free, just as it is in any public school. Pre-enrollment links are available online, and campus phone numbers, addresses and map locations are available by clicking on links on the web site.Carter Community students are exposed to rich learning activities. These include weekly Productive Citizens Club meetings that focus on developing economic and financial literacy. All students in grades K-8 participate in the club meetings. These culminate every nine weeks with a Marketplace Meeting. During Marketplace Meetings, students share with their peers what is going on in their club community. Integration of field trips, guest speakers, and classroom volunteers are additional pillars of support that enrich the lives of Carter Community School students.
