About Constellation Schools: Stockyard Community Elementary

Description provided by the district or community — not part of the NCES dataset.

Stockyard Community Elementary is a Constellation School that serves a diverse student population. The population consists of Caucasian, Latino/Hispanic, African American, Multiracial and Native American Indian students. The students come from the Westside of Cleveland and surrounding suburbs. The parents travel to Stockyard because it is a school of choice and the teachers, support staff, and administration are committed to educating all students. Stockyard is “The Right Choice for Parents and a Real Chance for Children.” At Stockyard Community Elementary, we promote and offer small class sizes, typically no more than twenty students. This way the students can receive individual academic attention they need in order to be successful. Our goal at the school is to develop a generation of productive citizens who are able to achieve and compete in a global society. The students have a rigorous schedule and it consists of the following courses: Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Character Education, Music, Physical Education, and Technology. The curriculum that is used is the Ohio Academic Content Standards Program and the students also take the Ohio Achievement Test. Because of the diverse student population, it is important that our teachers and support staff reflect the level of diversity within the school building. All of our teachers are highly qualified and they are certified by the Ohio Department of Education. Stockyard Community Elementary opened its doors in 2004 with only 18 students in grades kindergarten through third. Today, we have nearly 300 students in grades kindergarten through sixth. At Stockyard, we welcome the growth as we continue to bridge the relationships with our parents and solidify our place within the community while promoting Quality Education for All Children.
