Old Brooklyn Community Middle is a character education school that is modeled after proven exemplary middle school practices. These practices include interdisciplinary teaming, varied instruction, advisory programs, exploratory and transitional programs. The middle school curriculum is aligned with the Ohio Academic Content Standards. The students of Old Brooklyn Community Middle are assessed numerous times throughout the school year to monitor the learning progress and student achievement that is being made. The assessment tools that are used include: • AIMS Web Benchmark Testing • Stanford 10 Testing • Ohio Achievement Testing • Classroom Assessments. The entire teaching staff at Old Brooklyn Community Middle is considered Highly Qualified to teach in their specific subject area according to the Ohio Department of Education’s Highly Qualified Teacher standards. Character Education is taught on a regular basis, and displaying good character is encouraged throughout the school. The students of Old Brooklyn Community Middle consider their school a community, and work together to make a positive middle school environment. This is evidenced in the trivial amount of office referrals and behavior infractions. Our students feel safe and nurtured in an environment that is conducive to learning. The students are respectful of each other, the staff, and visitors.
