JUSTUS-TIAWAH

The philosophy of the Justus-Tiawah School is based upon the following general rules: 1. Justus-Tiawah citizens have rights and responsibilities, so also do classroom citizens have rights and responsibilities. 2. The student does not divest himself of his constitutional rights on entering the schoolhouse. 3. So long as the student does not disrupt the educational process, impose upon, endanger or deprive others of their rights, the student will enjoy his freedoms of expression, orderly assembly, privacy of person and freedom from discrimination. 4. Fair and reasonable procedure will be followed to assure the student’s rights. 5. The student, in turn, needs to recognize that to maintain an atmosphere conducive to learning, the reasonable exercise of authority by school officials is necessary. 6. All persons connected with our schools must demonstrate respect for the rights of the students and students must accept their responsibility toward others and toward the school system. 7. Rules of discipline are guidelines for behavior, so that all may know what is expected of them in the school community.
