The vision of the Penn Hills School District is to engage our entire community to inspire individual students to their highest levels of reading and academic achievement while instilling a commitment to service, respect, and life-long learning. The District encourages a culture that values academic performance, diversity, extensive parental involvement, personalized education for all students, and demonstrated school board commitment, as well as a strong commitment to family and community. Serving approximately 3,800 children in five buildings, the District enjoys easy access to downtown Pittsburgh, with the city's business, cultural, shopping, sports, and entertainment facilities only minutes away. Here in the Penn Hills School District, we believe that all children can learn; everyone is entitled to be treated with dignity and respect; learning is something a child does, not something done to a child; the teacher/administrator is a professional decision-maker who facilitates learning while continually learning herself/himself; education is to be shared by the school, home, and community; excellence should be encouraged and recognized; and learning is a never-ending process.
