The mission of the Bledsoe County School System in conjunction with the community is to develop well-rounded individuals who have a solid educational foundation, a strong sense of self-worth, an understanding of cultural diversity, the desire for success in the work force, and the quest for lifelong learning. Our vision for the Bledsoe County School System is that all students are empowered to face the choices and challenges of the 21st century. We hold high expectations for each student. Upon graduation, students are prepared to participate productively and responsibly in a rapidly changing society. They demonstrate self-respect for themselves and others in our diverse culture. Students communicate effectively, are creative and use cooperative and independent learning strategies. They excel in the skills of decision-making, problem-solving, and critical-thinking processes. Students possess advanced technical skills needed in America's work force. Entering the adult world, students are equipped with the ability and educational strengths to be lifelong learners, the character strengths to be team workers, and the intrinsic values of high morals for sustaining family and civic responsibilities. Enthusiastic teachers focus on student learning using a variety of strategies. Modeling the behaviors they seek to instill in students, teachers participate in the quest for knowledge. They value lifelong learning and continue an on-going path of professional development. Partnerships between families and teachers enhance each child's education and provide a nurturing environment for the development of the whole child. Symbiotic relationships among families, businesses, organizations, community members, and the school provide strong educational ties that enhance learning beyond the walls of the school. Because of high expectations held by schools for all students, no child is left behind. Career exploration and work-based learning provide opportunities for informed decision making. Using multiple teaching strategies, schools promote critical thinking skills in order to compete in the global work place. Technology stimulates students' need for knowledge and is a means and not an end.
