KERMIT ISD

Kermit Independent School District is located in the city of Kermit in Winkler County, Texas, in the middle of the Permian Basin, and encompasses 398.09 square miles . The city of Kermit is located just under the southeast corner of New Mexico at the intersection of State Highways 18, 115, and 302, approximately 46 miles west of Odessa. Kermit's main industries include ranching and petroleum production & transportation. Although the 2010 census places Kermit with under 6000 residents, population has been growing recently due to the recent oil boom. The district is fully accredited (PK-12) by the Texas Education Agency. Kermit Independent School District serves approximately 1300 students, and employs nearly 250 employees. The District is classed as a 2A school district for UIL competition, and we proudly support the KJHS Daubers and the KHS Yellow Jackets. Our District currently is home to: Kermit High School, grades 9-12, Kermit Junior High, grades 6-8, Kermit Elementary School, grades Pre-Kinder through 5.
