About Mercer School District

Description provided by the district or community — not part of the NCES dataset.

The Mercer School District is a pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade school at a single site. Our District is located in southern Iron County in northwestern Wisconsin, approximately 20 miles south of the City of Hurley, the county seat. The District encompasses 198 square miles and includes the entire Town of Mercer. Current enrollment is 140 students. Mercer teachers are highly trained and fully qualified under state and federal standards. The District provides children with high quality educational programming in a small school atmosphere. We facilitate student learning. Set in a rural environment, the Mercer School provides the necessary individual instruction based on each child’s needs. Our teachers know their students and work with their parents to help insure the success of each child. Students in the Mercer School are academically challenged in courses that prepare them for a post-secondary education as well as for life after school. Mercer students generally score at or above the Wisconsin state average on college entrance exams. Many graduates have gone on to compete in advanced fields to include medicine, law, engineering, physics, and architecture.
